Solo improvisation

Josten Myburgh’s saxophone solos approach melodic invention through the multiphonic and microtonal possibilities of the instrument. Their playing is folklike, occasionally recalling ambient electronic music or noise. Since 2018 they have been exploring playing the instrument outdoors, enmeshing it with the sounds and acoustics of the environment.
